Imposition, Enforcement, & Collection of LFOs in Skagit County - Skagit County Clerk of Courts Melissa Beaton, Skagit County Senior Deputy Public Defender Jeri Chavez, and Skagit County Chief Criminal Deputy Prosecutor Rosemary Kaholokula
Community Panel Discussion - Local People Formerly Involved in the Skagit Justice System
How to Draft Petitions re: LFOs - Skagit Legal Aid Executive Director Andy Dugan and Licensed Legal Intern Austin Hellman
A CLE accreditation request will be submitted to the Washington State Bar Association for 3.0 credit hours. Attorneys can also earn up to 2.0 pro bono CLE credit hours.
After the training, attorneys will use their new knowledge and skills to review court records and draft petitions concerning LFOs for people previously involved in the Skagit justice system. Skagit Legal Aid will host follow-up events for clients to review and sign their petitions in the following weeks.
Anyone who would like their conviction history reviewed can sign up here. SLA staff will meet with clients during the following times to review and sign the petitions:
Tuesday, February 7th from 12pm - 6pm at the CCS Farmworker Center in Mount Vernon (emphasis on Spanish and Mixteco speakers)
Wednesday, February 8th from 5pm -8pm at the Burlington Library in Burlington
Friday, February 10th from 10am -2pm at the East County Resource Center in Concrete
