Skagit Legal Aid, with the support of the Swinomish Indian Tribal Community and the Native American Law Student Association at Seattle University School of Law, invite you to attend a FREE Tribal Law Training and Luncheon on Friday, April 29, 2022 from 10:00am - 1:00pm at the Swinomish Casino & Lodge in Anacortes, Washington.
Attorneys and law students will learn about the following:
History and culture of the Swinomish Tribe,
General practice tips from the leaders of the Swinomish Tribal Court,
Reasons why estate planning is particularly important for tribal members, and
Volunteer opportunities during the summer months.
A CLE accreditation request will be submitted to the Washington State Bar Association for 3.0 credit hours.
All attorney participants will be sworn into the Swinomish Tribal Bar immediately following the training. Skagit Legal Aid will pay the tribal bar admission fees for all attorneys.
After the training, attorneys and law students can sign up to volunteer at one (or more) pop-up legal clinic occurring on the Swinomish Reservation over the summer.
Free round trip transportation will be provided between Seattle and Anacortes for all law students.
